Sakanaya Japanese Restaurant in Fresno

This was a lovely spot for a date night, if you take advantage of the patio seating. The service was excellent and the food came out in a timely manner. I wish I could have loved the food more but it just didn't hit the mark for me. I ordered the fried calamari appetizer which is always my go to favorite and they couldn't get the dipping sauce right. I like simple spicy mayo, which is really just siracha and mayonnaise, but I was brought something else that tasted horrible. The other alternative was tempura sauce, I just don't find that it compliments calamari well. We had the dragon roll and the baked salmon roll. Both were good, just not great. I would probably be back to try other options in order to be fair with my review but do keep in mind, it is is on the pricier side.

A++ New York steak and seafood (shrimp, calamari, scallops) combo. The signature spicy sauce is a favorite. Fried rice is a good mix. One of my favorite Tepanyaki restaurant.

One of the best sushi and teppanyaki place in Fresno. Every food is so yummy and so tasty. Also service of servers, hostesses, and chefs are very professional. They are very kind and friendly. I love the foods in Sakanaya. Mostly every weekend I go there with my friend and my family. Also they have very cozy traditional Japanese decoration and they opened beautiful patio dining. I ate foods inside and brought drinks to the patio and I love the atmosphere and mood there.

We’ve gone here two years in a row for my father-in-laws birthday and it’s always been excellent!This year, our teppanyaki chef was Barry who was very congenial and fun (given it was a Sunday night, which can be slow). He told jokes and gave us tips on how to make the garlic butter! The service and food was excellent. We had calamari and it tender and went well with the ginger sauce. I love the spicy sauce they make and had that on everything. Our waitress was very attentive and refilled my water as needed (which was a lot due to my predilection towards the spicy sauce). The portions were also generous. We had plenty to eat and extra leftovers to take home. Everything was delicious and the experience was a lovely one!

I love to go there once or twice a week. The most fresh fish even uni, it tastes so good because it is too fresh. I love teppanyaki there with performance of professional chefs with fresh sushi. Beautiful Japanese place, and it reminds me restaurant in Tokyo. Their services are great all the time. This place always makes me smile.

This may be my new go-to sushi restaurant. Rolls are comparatively more flavorful than other locations, service is surprisingly quick and efficient. The atmosphere I love; it's very dark and cozy, which makes me feel comfortable.

The restaurant is wonderful and spacious, the food was enchanting and the prices were very inexpensive. quickly, productive service and very attentive staff. Highly recommended.

Awful service. Made reservation for Father’s Day. They confirmed reservations but would not honor it. Spoke with management to hopefully resolve this misunderstanding. Manager was rude and just walked away during our conversation. Total disrespect.Not one time did he apologize or try to make the situation better. For that reason I read this I 0 stars. Ruined my Father’s Day.

All the food was consistently good especially the rice and beans sprouts which I don't normally seen served elsewhere.

Seriously freaking awesome!! We got the dinner for two and it was plenty of food, perfectly cooked and seasoned! The chefs were great entertainment too!

I told my friends about this restaurant with my warmest recommendations. I go to this restaurant often. This recommendation is always successful. The the food there is fantastic and the stuff is efficient and cooperative. Whenever we visit this place we have a lovely evening. I warmly recommend this restaurant.

This place is the best. Food is great.

It can be a bit pricey if you aren't going during happy hour, but the quality of the food more than reflects its value. The fresno roll is definitely worth a try! Don't forget to grab some mochi for dessert. Their dish presentation is flawless and each piece of a roll is quite large. I had two dishes and am stuffed!

This was my first visit, and it wont be my last. The food was excellent, the chef's were very entertaining and the waitresses are friendly. It's comparable to Sakura Chaya. I highly recommend.
